Nick and I have had a very busy couple of weeks. We are seeing our lives begin to blossom in many ways and more than ever are looking to heaven and saying “Thank You”. Not that life is perfect…
Assault by Battery
About a week and a half ago, I climbed in my car, turned the key, and got No Response. I tried a few more times, nothing. We thought the problem was a simple battery, but when we had our battery tested we were told it was fine. Still, we purchased a new one and tried it out, but there was no improvement. We called all the engineers in our phone book(s), but all were baffled – the owner of the first garage we took the car to was baffled; so, we tried another new battery, still the only suggestion that seemed valid to anyone…NOTHING. Finally, we decided to take the car to a specialist, two hours after we dropped it off, we received a call. “Your car is fine, it just needed a new battery,”…WHAT? The Bright Side: Our friends of 2 weeks lent me their car while mine was out of commission. We were blown away by their kindness. All in all, the nuisance of the car episode aside, it gave us another reason to be thankful.
Question: Why haven’t I blogged in 2 weeks?
Answer: No good reason. Actually, we have just been busy. Nick’s schoolwork just about buried him for awhile, but he has held his head up and his sanity together and we are at the end. (He is actually at a Muslim Mosque as I write this observing their prayer service and speaking with a follower about the Islamic faith for part of the personal study portion of his Islam class.)
Halibut Point (Again)
Two weeks ago, before the car incident or the tidal wave of schoolwork, we went to Halibut Point for some R and R. This is truly one of our all-time fave places. It is so peaceful, so beautiful, and the sea air does so much good with every deep breath. In the Summer the greens are so luxuriant, we were both reminded of Antigua – one of the Islands we visited for our honeymoon last year. Here are some of the pictures.

To the Water.

People build these sculptures as they pass by. They are always different because they are constantly falling down and being rebuilt.

Because this isn’t a beach and the rocks drop off into deep ocean water, it is very COLD.

The Quarry.
Women of Faith
This past Saturday, I was offered a Free ticket to the Women of Faith conference at Banknorth Garden dowtown. I was so blessed to be able to go and take part of this event. I hopped on the train and met up with some of the women from our church. I have never been to a conference this large. There were thousands of women there and the speakers ranged from being funny to being tearjerkers. There were also some great performances. I really enjoyed hearing Natalie Grant perform her song “Held”. I didn’t get many pictures, and the ones I got weren’t great, but I’ll share them anyway.

Sooooo many women.

A very blurry picture of some of the ladies from our church.

Grandma Mercer, this picture is for you. The lady in the middle of the screen is your favorite singer – Sandi Patty.
Old Cake
Just thought I would share this one last thing because it gave me a chuckle. I checked my blog stats tonight and there is a section that shows if people came to our blog through a search engine. Today, somebody came to our blog by searching the words “old cake” – our Anniversary post comes up 7th when you search “old cake” on google.
Also, many thanks to Mikey Krell for his many hours of phone consultation concerning the demonic battery!!
That was truly some “old cake”. It is not quite the grand tradition it is made out to be.
